Why did you choose to stay along the coast (versus other areas in Athens)?
Because I love being by the sea! Fresh air, fresh seafood, and good vibes!
Which is your favorite beach and why?
If we’re talking in Athens city, definitely a tie between Balux House project/pool and Nalu – both beaches are clean with shallow waters, but it is the vibe/music in both places which set them apart. A secret little retreat I enjoy frequenting is Limni Vouliagmeni – a real jewel at the limits of the city which makes you forget you’re even that close to Athens!
What is your favorite area to spend time in during the day and why?
Athens as a city is pretty crowded during the day so I try to avoid the center at all costs – chilling out on the beach is definitely an ideal way to spend a hot summer afternoon!
For a night out, which area do you prefer and why?
Glyfada is always fun – you can have anything from a mellow quite dinner to a wild night of drinking and bar-hopping.
Island Club in Varkiza is amazing for a night out!
Do you have any tips for someone who is visiting the Athens Coast for the first time?
Definitely dedicate a day or two to explore the beaches, beach-bars, and beach cafes – but seeing as that I’m an architect, I’d definitely recommend a visit to the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center in Palaio Faliro. It’s an elegant work of architecture which provides a platform for the community to meet, lounge, learn, and exchange – something I feel that the Greek community needs at this time and will certainly thrive on.
What should the rest of the world know about the Athens Coast?
You’ll not regret your visit there, guaranteed. You can find a variety of options that would cater to your enjoyment and it’s no surprise that many people head there too!
